There’s that famous scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where Indy’s map leads him to a great chasm, and he has to decide if he should literally take a leap of faith off the ledge. If his map is a lie, he will fall to his death. If his map is true, he’ll somehow live. Spoiler alert: He lives.
It was a bold and blatant disregard for normal constraints to change the world for the better. What I call “audacity.”
I’m not recommending anyone step off a cliff, but I am looking for examples of people who embody that spirit. Why? Because I want to better understand what makes them tick so I can share their secrets.
When I ask people where they need the most help living out the principles of LEAP (Love, Energy, Audacity, and Proof) it’s not even close. By a 3-to-1 margin, they struggle with the practice of inspiring Audacity.
The desire is there, but they need help to attach actions to their aspirations. They want to make a difference in their world — the world of their industry, organization, company, team, community, family, etc. — but something holds them back. Letting go of “normal constraints” is easy to say, but hard to do.
If you know of someone who has learned to let go of constraints — not just to think outside the box but to live as if no box exists — then I’d like you to do me a favor and connect me with that person.
Even if that person is you.
I’m compiling a list and looking to interview some people who exemplify this trait. Just tell me who it is and (briefly) why you thought about them when I asked for an example. What I learn, I firmly believe, will help you and others in their journey to bring LEAP fully alive and make a great impact on the people around them.
Can you help?
