Blog guru, Mike Sansone, is helping me make some changes to this site. For those of you who care about this sort of thing, we’re moving platforms from Movable Type to TypePad–it’s an easier program for a tech-moron like me, more spam-resistant, and I’ll be better able to offer the multi-media experience I’ve always envisioned for www.stevefarber.com/
At least that’s the plan.
Mike is not only a genius at facilitating this brave new social media world, he’s an incredibly patient teacher.
The following video is quite reminiscent of a typical Mike Sansone/Steve Farber interaction.
Guess who’s who:
Steve – Perfection. I SO identify. 🙂
I am so identifying with this. I’m currently traveling and am trying to reconfigure my laptop to retrieve/send email…
OK, so I’m not the only one who has these conversations with Converstations (subtitles notwithstanding). Thanks for the great laugh there, Steve. And welcome to Typepad.
MovableType4.0 is in beta and has a bright future and community being built around it. Not exactly sure why you feel that you need to move all of your files over to the SixApart servers? IMO you are far better positioned with your blog set up on your own server.
There are plug-ins that can make the actual blogging process MUCH easier. Before you go through the backwards transition of moving your content from your own server over to TypePad’s, consider using something like ScribeFire to help you with posting.
Also consider that all of your past posts may lose their search engine authority when you import your MT blog over to a new TypePad platform, because the post addresses will change. You would be better off leaving the MT blog alive on your own server and starting fresh on TypePad.
PS- Sansone def knows his stuff and TypePad is certainly easier to use than the current version of MT, but do keep your eye on the new version of MT, it’s gonna be awesome like TypePad but will still allow you to build on your own dirt. Steve,
You couldn’t have picked a better guy. Am in the process of doing some things with my blog/site and have found Mike to be all that I had hoped for and more.
Let’s wish him a speedy recovery.
