In response to my last post (Greater Than Yourself) and my request for examples, Tim Draayer from Live Your Best Life sent me his story:
“On the first of this year I began venturing into the business world and at the time I had no clue what I was getting myself into. I had started my own business and the learning curve for someone that had no experience was enormous, along with the fact that I had no vision, dreams or ideas.
How I came to start a business at this point is a story in itself so I won’t go there. The person that I’m writing to tell you about is a man named Tom Long. He is an associate who has become a valued friend, and I’m certain beyond all disbelief that without him being there to support and help me, I would have given up a long time ago.
I began to get to know him about 2 months after I started my business and we talked on the phone often. In the beginning the conversations consisted mostly of my just talking and his encouraging me. Then he started telling me that I should start blogging because after reading some of my emails, he found that I’m a passionate writer. And he’s right, I am. Anyway, I began blogging and as I started to do so, I began to change.
I started out blogging about health and eventually I settled into blogging about business and life–and growing in both areas.
In the last few months things have literally exploded for me. My blog has taken on a life of its own and grows everyday, I’m collaborating to write a book, forming ideas for a book of my own, and have been asked if some of the content from my blog can be used in another author’s book.
My business also grows as I do and am being mentored by some very talented marketers. Without Tom’s leadership I would have either given up or taken far longer to reach the heights that I’m now achieving. I thank God for his presence in my life and want to pay his kindness forward, so my goal is to begin mentoring people, one person at a time to empower them.”
Thanks for that, Tim. Imagine how it will feel when someone writes a similar letter about you.
